My Voice

I have weathered and learned,
cactus triumphs
after every adversity is fought.
A long stemmed rose I am not!

A life tumbled through the spin
Survived the worst, fate brought,
But, a wind tossed leaf I am not!

Let me bloom in the wild.
My free spirit finds no place
in your manicured lawns

Star Crossed

A mix of me, and
my awesomeness,
A dash of you and
your attitude.

Its simply me,
my existence,
and the silence
that envelopes me.
A dash of you, though,
gives it another color

I want to shun the words
and embrace silence.
My speech must be muted
to be understood.
Your speech has words
and nothing else. So,
I let your verbosity
battle with my quiescence.

I want to sit still, and
freeze the moment
lest life takes its own course,
defying my intent.

Time Out

At times I wonder,
How easily we surrender
To demands, the life
puts upon us.

No time for family, nor a hello for friends
but grasping for every breather
the weary life lends

Not a moment to smell flowers
no way it is going to win me stars
the birds may chirp, for all I care
All I know, I should be headed somewhere

 I have lost some friends,
But then,so have they
when did we all laugh together?
It cant be yesterday!

Life runs fast
I need to catch up,my friend
You may still wake up to the smell of coffee
I have mails to send

A Poem Arrives...

She is like a poem
Words brimming over
Threatening to spill,
But lips muted
Soundless!
A song trying hard
To keep up with the music.

She is a poem
Scribbled in haste…
Words running ahead of thoughts
Stumbling, faltering
But arriving, at last

A Golden Prelude

A Golden prelude,
To the beauty of the night
My twilight lights up.

Several stars later,
Arrives, the glory of dawn,
Skies awash with gold!

Come languid afternoons,
Butterflies go chasing
My nomadic thoughts.

A lull,so placid
Tranquil waters whispering
 Soothing lullabies..

Chocolate Ecstasy...

A chocolate held in his hand,
waiting
to be unwrapped.But,
he only eyed  the
one smeared around her
parted lips.

spellbound, he watched
as  she delictaely darted  out
her tongue

 His eyes followed the trail

slowly he undressed
his chocolate
eyes,still following
her cue
the heat in his eyes
so intense
that obscured his view
A gentle bite
and  his own tongue
wrapped around  the bit
sucking in the sweetness
his ecstasy knew no bounds

Tequila Sunset

When minds feast on beautiful thoughts,
Summer wine flows in our talks;
When eyes speak what the words have left,
Then you and I must settle down to tequila sunset.
When the evening drapes the black velvet cloak
And preens itself at its sequined glow.
When the shooting star aims its bounty at us,
Then you and I must ask for a blessed togetherness.
And then, in the soft glow of night light,
The sleepy eyes wish for dreams, rosy and blithe.
When dreams lull us into a peaceful retreat,

Then the promise of a new dawn must we meet.

The Line of Her Spine...

Yes,she wants to reach the stars
without having to climb on his shoulder
She would like to run free
Rush past the restraining boulders
An untamed river!
Do not be the damned dam,
and bind her rhythm.

Get inside the mind of a woman,
when you are done scanning her anatomy...
The soul,I insist,is a part of her being too.

Acquaint yourself with her grit
Make love to her spirit

Find her in my verse
Find her in the universe
Find her in every man's soul
Find her in me
Find her in you!

Fall in love,
with  the Sun in her smile,
Fire in her eyes,
Spring in her stride,and
The line of her spine!

Forty Winks

Langor takes over
beating all my resolves
The To-Do list lies waiting
slumber does a little baiting
dreams beckon,enticing me
close the  eyes,get care free

Duties demand immediate attention
cant get far with  useless   evasion
So I gather my wits
and get on with my day
but..how to keep sleep at bay

lids heavy,  bid me to succumb
mind at snooze, leaves me numb
Wake me up
shake me up
    Hide that bed
  or burn the mattress!

 the dreaded  deadlines summon
I  try to work between the blinks
Ah!  better still, the work can wait
let me catch forty winks

Silk and Steel

 Wild and wonderful
Spirits rejoice
The space under the sun is still
Her choice
The reasons are hers
The seasons too
From the nadir to the zenith
The ascent is hers
Some bloom in summers
Some do in winters
She holds her ground
Firmly rooted, forever
   Untamed, untrained
Like a tidal wave, unrestrained
Rushing to kiss the shores
In complete abandon
Fearless, she laughs
And dances in the rain.
She dreams, she desires,
She demands, she fires
She surrenders in love
A steely soul in velvet glove
She is a woman
Less of a body,

More a soul!

The Conspiring Clouds

The conspiring clouds,
 get darker by the minute.
Heavy and fecund,
larger than life,
looming over my dry existence.

And,I couldn’t care less!
Let the rain and its rhetoric
 go on forever!

I watch the wanton rain, and
 Its shameless, unrestrained passion,
And refuse to be drawn
 in its wicked game.

The harangue of clouds,
the fury of thunder,
Try with their might
to intimidate me,
mocking my nonchalance,
Fail miserably.

Oh! The temerity of rain
On finding me dry, takes
A dig at me
And I end up
Soaked!

The First Flush Of Love

The first shower of rain,
My parched existence sings again.
Cleansing the fiber of my soul
Sprouting the blossoms of hope.

The first wave of desire,
Awakening me to dreams anew.
Every little whisper like a song,
Every stolen glance,
Oh! A potent brew!

The first kiss!
Time stands still.
Moment frozen,
A memory framed.

The first heartbreak,
Like a cloudburst
Menacing, fierce, yet
A quite deluge.
Not asking for respite,
Nor seeking refuge.

The first death of hope.
Leaving at its wake,
Some still born dreams.
Abortive attempts to revive
Poor, lifeless beliefs…

A Little More Than Love

A little more than love
Lives in our hearts;
A little more than hope
Wills us to go on.

 More is the memory
Than the moment
More is the promise
That hangs between us

The moment that you wish to imprison
The thought that you won’t let escape
Some words that choke in your throat
The same your heart can’t help say.

Love, but, happens only this way!

A little more than your entire life,
A little less than eternity
A wait that goes on
A quest that won’t stop…

Despair

The desperate wails of despair,
As shame is stripped bare.

She gathers her modesty
Shrinking within herself;
Holding, the last shreds of dignity.

They stand by, unmoved by her tears
Showing mute impotence to her worst fears.

Eyes searching for a man among males,
Looks around helplessly, as her effort fails.
No knight, nor a hero to her rescue
Not one proffered hand, much to her rue.

Crouched on the ground,
Ignominy loud in her muted cries
She sinks deeper, in a dark abyss
As tears abandon her lifeless eyes.

Unmoved, the men, now move away
Her plight becomes the talk of the day

Inner Dialogues

Your Promises

Your promises
 neither broken,
nor met;
Suspended,
trapped in a moment.

My heart tells a story
to my soul each evening.
Some memories relive
by no will of mine
I am defeated by my own
through the tests of time.

I had been stalling
all this while,
all this while!

The DNA of your thought

The DNA of your thought!

What makes you, I wonder!

Can I place you on a slide
And shove you under the microscope;
 And,look closely at the
cells and molecules
of your being.

Can I open up your brain
And dissect your thought;
Or get inside your palpitating heart
And see if I can calm the chaos.

I keep you under the lens
I trap you in a jar
Toss you out of the window
or try to shut you out
But,  to my horror,I  find you,
Sneaking in and making home
In my most inappropriate thought!
