Illusion

A thousand lies
that make my illusion
dearer to me
than many truths
The world of make believe
wrapped in silver
beckons tantalisingly
I stand afar
on the periphery of
reason
tempted to
turn back
and lose myself
in yet another
illusion

Coffee Notes

Were they mere words
that you scrawled quickly
on a paper napkin
from the table between us?
It's now a crumpled note,
ink-smudged and coffee-stained
Your expressions are crumpled too,
smudged,beyond what I can decipher
Has your love too gone my coffee way?
Lukewarm,ignored
and abandoned...

In wasted anticipation...

You let the pregnant pauses
hang in the air
I try to fill in with useless chatter.
The dark clouds gather,
grow dense with a promise
I watch with a bated breath
the wind rises and,
sweeps them away
The rain gives us a miss again!
Your eyes lose their eloquence!
My heart misses a beat
I get up to leave
leaving my soul behind
you are left to take stock
of the dregs,
the moments,
your unsaid words,and
my soul

Invader

She walks over his mental space,
trampling his thoughts
with her dainty feet.
Her laughter echoes
In the deeper recesses of his
heart.
And, a smile plays on his lips,
Inadvertently!
There’s more that makes
him muse.
She plays
in his most inappropriate thoughts.
There is so much of her
in his dreams
He does not want to wake up!

All that belongs to you...

Everything stacked so neatly
by the walls of my thoughts
Your conversations,
and, your pauses.
Your unrestrained love,
and, your forced indifference.
Your awesomeness,
and your attitude!

I pluck a moment
and, Voila, the rest fall down
and, scatter.
Disperse,
like the autumn leaves,
having lived the glory
of the spring

Pain

Pain creeps in stealthily,and
Dispels my loneliness
I am not alone anymore!
I see my shadow on the wall
As it listens impassively
To my soliloquy
My soul cringes
As my heart questions;
I hurriedly craft a lie
And,
A smile…

Dreams, yours and mine!

Let's trade our dreams.
Yours are stark.
Mine, candy floss.
I am sure you don’t mind the sweet
Yours, I doubt, will be a treat!
Lets bargain for more
Get more out of life.
My dream, the color of rose petal,
shall give you an insight
You must
Understand the pink
And, to your colorless dream,
I will add a tinge!

Your Lies

I love your lies
that you
weave to
make my day!
The play of words,
that veil your intent
is your forte

Let me fall back
comfortably
in my pretense
Let me ,once again
honor your lies

Random Rhetoric

Lukewarm coffee
Insipid Conversations
Inane relations
Life deserves better !
A book, well thumbed
A heart, that once hummed
A picture yellowed around edges
Remnants of smile
Traces of happy life.
Longing and craving
Of Utopian dreams
And unused fantasies
Love., as passionate as tropical rain
And life, unacquainted with pain.
Visions of halcyon times!

The Beginning of a Rainbow

He hummed a songless tune
Sanguine notes filled the air
Like the sound of falling rain
Or the call of the cuckoo
May be, like a whisper of leaves
He hummed to himself.
In sync with nature.
His eyes held mine
For an eon, may be
pleading silently
for words,
to complete his song.
I felt the rain on me
The caress of zephyr
His crooned softly
In my ear
Now complete with the words
I had lent him
And the rain drenched us both!

More than a Muse

You are,
a little more
than being just a muse
of my countless odes
I have tucked you
in the frail,yellowed page
of my favorite diary,
along with,
my half scribbles
and, the dry carnation,
that you'd quietly pressed in my hand
one languid afternoon.
You come alive often,
without needing a spur,
to become the words
of yet another poem.
I have often scribbled your name
across the vast blue sky.
My fingers, blankly running with
the flow
that spells your name!
I keep you safe
within me,
Like the deer holds the musk.
My days are fragrant
with your thought!

Bolder Hues

Deepen my pastels
It's time the hues changed
Even the leaves alter their color
When the seasons change.

Give my pastels a deeper tone
The weak must now turn a new leaf
Let the hue be bolder
The colors have since long simmered
It's time, they blazed

Ache Within

 I have stood apart
at a distance,
from your world and  its periphery
knowing well,
you can  do  without
everything  that's me !
I  stand,nevertheless,
fighting  my  anxiety

we come a long way
longer than  eternity
yet I find a disconnection-
a crack, that pretends  to heal

An ache settles in my heart
and becomes  a part of my being

Facade

You exist  in your  duality
Changing roles,
fashioning them  to  suit
the need of the  hour.

I revel in my  singleness
rather artlessly.
I carry no change,
nor a camouflage

I  struggle,
with my incompetence
My emotions find
no place  to  hide

You  keep  your mask from slipping
Emotions  sterilized, and frozen,
I see,but, a muscle twitch
when you see me
smirk!

Languid Afternoons

We sit sipping coffee, after a hearty meal
It was Caeser salad, as usual, for lunch
We are watching weight!
And that’s the crunch
Unmindful, however, of dollops of mayo
And strips of cheese!
The lettuce smothered, and heaved a sigh!
Eat up all without blinking an eye
But yes, salad it is, for us weight watchers
 Unmindful of its bland taste
And the ambiance that was rendered waste;
For, between the forkfuls
The gossip ran smooth.
Salad tackled, we look for more
Ahh!  The Pizza must be made of whole wheat flour
We are watching weight, after all.
The waiter takes a note for extra cheese
Let me forget the calories for once,oh please!
Nachos and cheese, on the table next,
Look just as tempting as the rest
Corn flour is healthy, and it's baked too
Then why should I resist it and, why should you
Live for today, eat well, I  tell my craving heart
It will just take an extra lap in the park

The Rising

Drop the roses

Pick up the gun!

They prowl and seek you

Face them,or get hurt.

Do not look around,

for guards and guides.

Stand up,

Boo the bully!

You are ,

Neither the victim,

Nor, the survivor

Rise,and raise

your voice

Find the resonance

in many

Lead the way.

And find ,

Many,behind you!

An Enchantress,A Believer

A poem walks with me
Dressed in metaphors,
Innocently deceiving, with
Hyperbole and simile
Enticing, seducing
An enchantress!!
Romancing with words
Flirting senselessly
Word play at its best
The poem remains,
A tease!
A poem lives in my soul
Resplendent in hope
Keeping the faith
Surviving against odds,
Calls herself,
A believer!

Cold Mountains

The mountains that stood proud,
 And, intimidating,
Only until the marauders came,
Felt now threatened,
 And, cracked  under pressure.

Heavy, pregnant clouds
Loomed over the hills
 Dangerously;
 Collided finally, and burst

Humans washed away mercilessly
Lives dispersed, scattered
Over the spaces, amid the hills
Men and women, once fascinated
By the tall mounts
Were washed away by waves,

If only
we had rescued mountains from men
We would not have to rescue men from mountains.
