The
desperate wails of despair,
As shame is
stripped bare.
She gathers
her modesty
Shrinking
within herself;
Holding, the
last shreds of dignity.
They stand
by, unmoved by her tears
Showing mute impotence to her worst fears.
Eyes
searching for a man among males,
Looks around
helplessly, as her effort fails.
No knight,
nor a hero to her rescue
Not one
proffered hand, much to her rue.
Crouched on
the ground,
Ignominy loud in her muted cries
She sinks
deeper, in a dark abyss
As tears
abandon her lifeless eyes.
Unmoved, the men, now move away
Her plight
becomes the talk of the day
