Facade

You exist  in your  duality
Changing roles,
fashioning them  to  suit
the need of the  hour.

I revel in my  singleness
rather artlessly.
I carry no change,
nor a camouflage

I  struggle,
with my incompetence
My emotions find
no place  to  hide

You  keep  your mask from slipping
Emotions  sterilized, and frozen,
I see,but, a muscle twitch
when you see me
smirk!

Languid Afternoons

We sit sipping coffee, after a hearty meal
It was Caeser salad, as usual, for lunch
We are watching weight!
And that’s the crunch
Unmindful, however, of dollops of mayo
And strips of cheese!
The lettuce smothered, and heaved a sigh!
Eat up all without blinking an eye
But yes, salad it is, for us weight watchers
 Unmindful of its bland taste
And the ambiance that was rendered waste;
For, between the forkfuls
The gossip ran smooth.
Salad tackled, we look for more
Ahh!  The Pizza must be made of whole wheat flour
We are watching weight, after all.
The waiter takes a note for extra cheese
Let me forget the calories for once,oh please!
Nachos and cheese, on the table next,
Look just as tempting as the rest
Corn flour is healthy, and it's baked too
Then why should I resist it and, why should you
Live for today, eat well, I  tell my craving heart
It will just take an extra lap in the park

The Rising

Drop the roses

Pick up the gun!

They prowl and seek you

Face them,or get hurt.

Do not look around,

for guards and guides.

Stand up,

Boo the bully!

You are ,

Neither the victim,

Nor, the survivor

Rise,and raise

your voice

Find the resonance

in many

Lead the way.

And find ,

Many,behind you!

An Enchantress,A Believer

A poem walks with me
Dressed in metaphors,
Innocently deceiving, with
Hyperbole and simile
Enticing, seducing
An enchantress!!
Romancing with words
Flirting senselessly
Word play at its best
The poem remains,
A tease!
A poem lives in my soul
Resplendent in hope
Keeping the faith
Surviving against odds,
Calls herself,
A believer!

Cold Mountains

The mountains that stood proud,
 And, intimidating,
Only until the marauders came,
Felt now threatened,
 And, cracked  under pressure.

Heavy, pregnant clouds
Loomed over the hills
 Dangerously;
 Collided finally, and burst

Humans washed away mercilessly
Lives dispersed, scattered
Over the spaces, amid the hills
Men and women, once fascinated
By the tall mounts
Were washed away by waves,

If only
we had rescued mountains from men
We would not have to rescue men from mountains.

My Voice

I have weathered and learned,
cactus triumphs
after every adversity is fought.
A long stemmed rose I am not!

A life tumbled through the spin
Survived the worst, fate brought,
But, a wind tossed leaf I am not!

Let me bloom in the wild.
My free spirit finds no place
in your manicured lawns

Star Crossed

A mix of me, and
my awesomeness,
A dash of you and
your attitude.

Its simply me,
my existence,
and the silence
that envelopes me.
A dash of you, though,
gives it another color

I want to shun the words
and embrace silence.
My speech must be muted
to be understood.
Your speech has words
and nothing else. So,
I let your verbosity
battle with my quiescence.

I want to sit still, and
freeze the moment
lest life takes its own course,
defying my intent.
