The DNA of Silence

these days,

the walls of my room whisper

 to each other

hesitant to break the silence

while my thoughts squabble

with each other

inside my head.

it's deadly quiet here. I haven't

spoken much for sometime

i talk to myself,

I often do.

the soliloquy rebels

and turns its face,

seeking dialogue.

loneliness gnaws at the edges

of my being...

my coffee needs a partner.

His Absence

 two sides of their bed

the one, she tossed over restlessly

the other,

occupied with his absence.

his side took up a lot of space,

pushing her to the edge.

she moved,

leaving more space in the bed

clutched the sheets tightly

to keep herself from falling.

slowly

his absence grew

became gigantic

filled up the room

till it became a part of

her entirety.

now,

she carries his presence

within her soul

the only place she could

keep him with her

The morning crawled in
like a stranger
I felt no kinship
nor, the obligation
to greet it
The day was bright
I felt bare
and vulnerable

I missed the affinity
 that I'd made with
the darkness of the night

They say the dreams
 that no one owns
fall on the ground
 like dead bloom

I had but, tucked my dreams close to the heart
not letting them fall in gloom
 And then, I waited
 for the night

He and She

The sky stared back at her

with a desolate vacant gaze

someone switched off the moon.

 the terra, scared and forlorn

lit a small lamp

but the storm blew away her faith

her lamp was exhausted.

and they both,

the sky, and the terra

were rendered hopeless

yet found each other

to comfort.

 the sky yielded dew drops

 the earth drank up thirstily

and looked up

in sheer love!

Words etc

I give in to tears

fears

hysterics,

hullabaloo

and hold back words

Some die on the lips

and get buried

in the recesses of  my heart

some come stumbling out

to falter on the tongue

why do we say the least

to the ones we love the most?

We arrange words,

rearrange

to make them  sound better

coat them with sweetness

or buffer edges

do our best

to say in a jest

In the end,

chuck it all

and swallow

words

messiness

She let the kiss
sit on her lips
until it's ready
to be consumed,
or consume her

She is ready to accept
confessions
without lowering her  gaze
Cos the storms that rage in his eyes
ruffle the peace of her heart

They love the messyness
around them,
of stolen kisses,
crumpled sheets,
and, entangled emotions.

Bitter Almonds

the taste of bitter almonds
 reminds, as Gabrial said,
of unrequited love

it sits on the tongue for a long time
leaving you
with no choice.
acceptance, like grief,
dawns slowly
but surely

and, wary you get
 of trying another
lest it tastes the same
bitter,
acrid.

unrequited love
is love too
just like bitter almond
is almond too.

over ripe blueberries
 i muse,
meet the same fate
sorted from the good ones
and discarded

love
almonds
blueberries
have their uses
only when good!

Sky and Earth

Majestically,
he looms over her,
Mighty and powerful
His moods change
and she adapts

She, the humble one,
the terra firma,
takes so much
assault upon her
Her bosom filled with pain!
While he roars, growls
howls,
she  patiently  awaits the soothing rain
to soak her tenderly.

Creeper and the Wall

clinging hopefully
to an adamant wall
she hopes to rise

 rise she will,
but only as much
as he would.

that fragrant creeper
can never hope
to cross the mark
set by the wall.

she blooms all over him
her beauty draped over
his dry, rough existence
yet fails to wane

In her next life
'she hopes to
become a tree
and rise
to heights set
by her

Within Me

In the recesses of my soul
along with other profundities
and the raw, real me
I discover you!
I don't see you in the mass of humanity
among faces that mean nothing
to me.
I don't find you in wilderness
or manicured spaces
no, not in fine settings
nor in ruins of trivia

Your existence transcends
the ordinary
and reach the place sublime
within me

Fervour

no furs,
or diamonds
rubies,
or sapphires
silks or satins
gladden my insides
as your fervent
kisses
urgent, and
stolen.

the ache within
the endless quest
for love
until eternity.

 desires are
little needles
that prick the soul
 the ache
that happily
ignores the cure

Forlorn

I miss the ache
that sought solace
 in your kisses.
The assurance of the hand
that held  mine
in testing times.

I miss the look
that wore warmth
to thaw the icicles
of my soul.

I miss the storms
that made me seek shelter
 in your embrace

Lost and forlorn
I miss everything
about you

A Lonely Rainy Day

 I roam aimlessly,
 bearing your thought,
on a rain drenched afternoon.

The world walks past me
absorbed in its pace
One is never lonelier
than on a rainy day

I look for you
peering into the mist
the fecund downpour
fails to wash off
your thoughts
The illusion stays with me
bearing the audacity of rain

Impulse

Unresistingly
I gush towards you,
my wild wild ways defy your
stolid anchor.

I am impulsive
and give way, often,
to exuberance
Your sobriety
holds me steady.

But look,
how I wrap you, at last,
 in my embrace
and leave you soaked in love!

The DNA of your thought

The cells and molecules
Of your thought
Stacked together,
Rather, funnily.
Resulting in a formation
That is completely
Incredible.
I find myself
Wandering in your thought
Helpless and lost
A maze
 Hard to explore
Harder to solve.
And you find me there
Completely vulnerable
Raw and uncertain

The Compromise.

And then
it didn't matter
how, and
why
we crumbled
under the onslaught
of compromises,
killing spirit
and, donning the garb of
Indifference.
Love and other trivialities
lost to
our egos that reigned supreme

And then,
It didn't matter
what remained in the end

Lonesome Moon

And the moon
floated across the expanse of the sky,
almost pompously.
Veiled occasionally
by the gossamer screen
of pearly white clouds
yet at times, strutting proudly
in all its majesty.

She wondered,
as the Moon peered through
her lace curtains,
if the moon was ever
lonesome.

Echoes of Yesterday

They left one by one
they had brought no baggage
they left with none.

I look around with detachment
little notes, now crumpled balls
coffee rings,
soiled mugs
echoes of laughter
those hurried hugs.

No one had promised to stay forever
no one had a plan
Those who came calling in spring
didn't stay to see the fall

So they left
one by one
my fair- weather,
carnival friends

Mishmash of Love

Love
walked us through
the mishmash
of unexpressed
emotions

Sometimes,
you encountered the maze
yet, at times
I ran into
a thick wall.

Hopeless souls
we two-

We carried on!

Wine-Kissed

Summer wine
swirled languidly
around her tongue.
He watched her eyes
turning into
stormy twilight

Outside
the dusk had left.
The peach smeared
across the sky
melded sensually
with silvery greys

His gaze but, lingered
over the hint of wine
sitting pretty
on her lips
